The scientist, music producer and DJ that stands behind the name Inner Child is coming to perform and lecture at first ever Sea Sound Festival. Sara Nikšić a.k.a. Inner Child is marine biologist, musician, bioacoustician, storyteller and educator, amongst many other things. For over a decade she has been studying marine mammals, with a special focus on their vocal communication, social learning and culture, as well as developing innovative approaches to science education through art. Sara is the founder of Inner Child, an interdisciplinary project that connects the worlds of music, art and science. Her music floats through various downtempo styles and usually contains nature recordings, most often from the ocean.
You can hear Inner Child’s set on Sea Sound Festival, Saturday July 20th, in addition to her musical work Sara will held an interesting lecture on how she makes music with sounds of whales and other marine mammals, also on Saturday at 7 PM.
Through her Inner Child Music record label she released a few albums of her own music, as well as compilations on which she collaborated with some of the top producers in the electronic music scene. She was voted the ‘Best New Artist for 2020’ and her albums won several awards. They were archived by the British Library and have been played around the globe. Sara presented her work at some of the biggest scientific conferences, institutes and music festivals in the world, such as World Marine Mammal Conference in Barcelona, Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin and Cape Town, Edinburgh Science Festival, Science Discovery Day and Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute in Scotland, Silbersalz Festival in Germany, Masters of Puppets Festival in Czech Republic, Mumush Festival in Romania, Boom Festival in Portugal and Ozora Festival in Hungary. She was featured in the international media, including The New Yorker, Whalebone Magazine and BBC Radio. After years of living abroad, she is now back in her homeland of Croatia, where she is creating music and other magical stories in her studio by the sea.
